Worried about a young person’s safety at any of our Aspire schools? Email safeguarding@aspireapschool.bham.sch.uk. In an emergency, always call 999.

A referral process built on trust and progress.

We work with schools, local authorities, youth justice services, children's social care and other partners, so every placement has clear communication and a planned next step.

Working in partnership

We keep in regular contact with referrers, so you're never chasing us for news about a student's attendance, progress or engagement.

We work closely with the referring school, so support stays joined up on days when a student is with us and days when they aren't, including any qualifications they are working towards elsewhere.

How to make a referral

  1. Get in touch

Contact the Head Teacher at the school nearest the young person to start the conversation.

  2. Placement meeting

The young person, their parent or carer and the referrer meet us to agree expectations.

  3. Regular updates

Termly progress reports and review meetings keep everyone informed.

  4. Review and next steps

We plan the next stage together and support the move on.

Student welfare

We regularly work with young people who have special educational needs and social, emotional and mental health needs. Assessment when they join, and throughout their placement, lets staff adapt work to each student. Small groups and high staff-to-student ratios give them the best conditions to learn.

Any report of bullying is dealt with quickly and sensitively. Concerns can be raised with any member of staff.

Safeguarding and safer recruitment

Safeguarding means protecting young people from harm, preventing damage to their health or development, and making sure they grow up with safe and effective care.

Every member of staff and every volunteer completes full checks before working with children, including an enhanced DBS check, identity, qualifications, right to work and references.
